Spring bedding

So far this spring (well mainly this week) we have got the broad beans, spinach, pak choi, french beans, new potatoes, shallots x 4 types, spring onions, radish's, carrots, asparagus, and lettuce planted. The weather has been stunning and the soil not to wet.. Spring cleaning indoors is just as important as doing the garden, our bedroom was the first room we decorated when we moved in nearly 2 years ago and we have finally decorated all the rooms in the house, just the hallway to go, but that can be a winter job next year...

Desktop

Today I've been working from home...I have VAT and end of year accounts to finalise, which is not my cup of tea but it's quiet here and I can listen to what I want to on the radio..

I have a cool project up my sleeve for this year. It's quite bazaar but have been thinking about it for a few months now, so I'm going to test my entrepreneurial strengths and give it a go. I think it's in my blood.. and I know everyone will LOVE IT... I'll never sleep with excitement..

Georgian grandeur

Over the past few weekday/evenings and weekends we have transformed our lounge.. Mainly by getting rid of the dull green walls and antique effect on the wood work.. after a few discussions over tester pots of paint we agreed on this calming grey tone  'Bone China Blue' by little greene paint company, its makes the room look so light with the tall sash Georgian windows and complimenting our furniture, reindeer rugs, hand knitted cushions and open fire...

With it's chalky texture and the contrast with the  brilliant white it shows off the height of the room

My wish list

I have been thinking about getting a denim sofa for my office at home for a while now...I have 3 tressel tables and my friend Rachel, has been holding a flower school there on the odd occasion, so I may have space for one.. Its got clean chalky white walls and wooden floors so it needs a bit of texture.. It smells lovely with the sandalwood burning...
This spring I'd like to borrow my dad's morris minor and go on a picnic somewhere in the Cotswolds.. maybe even Wales if we have time to go on long walks..I love the smell of the leather in these old cars and the sound of the exhaust..
I hardly ever drive my car but have had it for so long now, but if I could just have a Landy for the weekend it would be like this..
Oh and this.....lovely old tin church... I dream of renovating one of these and having a cool space inside with a wood burner and maybe even a shop!!!!

Sunday Scotch egg's...

Sunday's can be so productive if you want them to be... I had an early start today as I was so excited with the whole day off I couldn't wait to get started! I had a good spring clean in the kitchen as we have been doing alot of wood oven cooking and entertaining it's been abit neglected..

Then I had a spring clean in my shoe cupboard, MG Frome are having a jumble sale and high tea to raise money for charity so I am going to donate some of my pre-loved chloe shoes and a Mui Mui pair, Tom helped me bag everything up and then we had some of his home-made cider for lunch and made some Scotch eggs..

We used Tom's sausage's for the sausage-meat, mixed with chopped parsley, thyme, spring onions, paprika, salt and pepper (heavy on the pepper), mustard powder. Then boiled 6 eggs for approx 6 minutes so they are soft boiled. Meanwhile we put some bread in the magimix to make crumb's and then toasted them on a tray in the Aga for a few minute's to dry them out so there is no moisture at all. When all ready and egg's are peeled we wrapped each egg in sausage-meat, dippped it in whisked egg and then rolled in breadcrumbs. Then we deep fried them to perfection. The moment of truth was when we cut them open to see the egg yolk run....Yum!

Changing rooms

Tom and I have been decorating our lounge recently, its the biggest room in the house, standing about 12 foot high 30 feet long (hence it's taken 2 years to get round to it) we have completely white washed it and have a blank canvas to decide on the new colour, mean while we've been enjoying having cold winter supper's picnic style...

Swaning about on the canal

We had a lovely day on Dad's canal boat this week along with cheese toasties, wood fire's and the gorgeous 9week old Sophie Constance, (who slept the whole way!) The canal is perfect this time of year, it's so quiet, no que's for locks and just the smoke puffing from all the other boat's chimney's...We played Tri ominoe's while the Dad's (x2 Richard's)were at the helm....
